Well it’s that time of year again YAY! Easter time :D. If your school participates in having you make your own hat for the Easter hat parade, then you may be looking for some inspiration. If you don’t have much time or lets face it, just can’t be bothered lol, I have collected some hat ideas for you that should be quite easy, cheap, and quick to make.
1.Check out this cute carrot hat!
Created by Ali Wright you can find her instructions to make this cute carrot hat HERE with a few other hat ideas too!
2. Super easy and cheap bunny masks.
Get the kids to make their own cute bunny masks. See how BABYCCINO made this with her boys HERE
3. Eggy jester hat
This hat is so simple, it’s great! Quick, easy, cheap, fun and effective. Another one the kids can help you with. This hat along with another eggy hat idea is made by Brenda Ponnay and can be found HERE.
4. Stars & eggs glitter hat
Make use of those $2 shop party glitter hats in this cute creation of foam stars and hand painted Styrofoam eggs, and glue. No credit link found for this one but I’m sure you can see how it was made? You could replace the foam stars with paper ones or even stickers and the eggs you should be able to find at most craft stores or $2 shops.
I hope they were helpful. Below are a few of the hats my girls and I have made through the years :).
This one we made using a straw had we found at a second hand store, a bunny in a basket, chocolate eggs, bunnies, chickens, flowers, ribbons, coloured paper, and my daughter drew some flowers to stick on pipe cleaners.
Well this year we got a bit crazy and I let the girls design their own. This is created directly from a drawing of my darling crazy daughter who was 6 then. We had just moved house so had boxes lying around. We painted this one gold, cut some holes with a Stanley knife, added alfoil to the lips, black cut paper for lashes, green crepe paper straw for the “hair”, made a big bow from purple card and then made a alfoil nest for the chicken and some eggs to sit in. Oh and some slots on the side were cut out for her to hold it. It was out there but she definitely got a good reaction from it.
That same year, this is what my other daughter (8) designed for herself. A giant top hat made from card with more paper straw, chickens and eggs around the brim and top. She also drew around it a crown of thorns.
I have let my kids design their own hats this year too. We have two done and one to go! I will do a post for these and also instructions on how to make a top hat and how we made a mad hatter inspired one.
I wish you all the best in your Easter hat making. Have fun!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter 1:3
